Increasingly, consumers are concerned about where the products they buy come from and what they’re made out of. Not only is wood furniture durable, elegant and beautiful but, providing the wood is sourced sustainably, it’s a great choice for eco-conscious buyers, too.
Here at Out of Wood, we aim to be a responsible wood furniture manufacturer. We source the timber used to make our stylish wood furniture from commercial South African timber plantations which are managed according to the ISO 9000 and/or ISO14000 standards and the Forestry Stewardship Council (FCS) system. The FCS is an independent, not-for-profit, non-government organisation based in Bonn, Germany, which has as its mission to support the environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable management of the world’s forests. Part of this mission is the evaluation, accreditation and monitoring of certification bodies to verify the use of the FSC standards. The South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) conducts FSC audits and issues certificates in South Africa, to guarantee customers that timber used in wood products, like wood furniture, originated from well-managed forests and/or controlled sources.
So, next time you’re in the market for home furniture, make it sustainable wood furniture from Out of Wood – we’re Africa’s finest!
